MASAF Strengthens Women and Youth Leadership to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls

MASAF Development Organization is strengthening community action against Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) by equipping women and young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become advocates for safer and more inclusive communities.

As part of this initiative, 30 members of MASAF Women Space – Her Chapter participated in a two-day training on the Prevention of VAWG held on 25–26 July 2026 at MASAF Spaces.

The training strengthened participants’ understanding of gender equality, harmful traditional practices, advocacy, leadership, and community engagement, preparing them to promote positive social norms and raise awareness within their communities and networks.

Building on this effort, MASAF conducted a VAWG Ambassadors Training on 30 July 2026, bringing together 7 young VAWG Ambassadors from youth networks and university students. The ambassadors were equipped with knowledge and advocacy skills to promote VAWG prevention and lead awareness efforts among their peers and wider communities.

Building a Network for Awareness and Action

Following the two trainings, Her Chapter members and VAWG Ambassadors will work together to support both digital and physical awareness efforts.

Their activities will include social media awareness campaigns, peer-to-peer engagement, community outreach, discussions, advocacy, and other initiatives aimed at challenging harmful social norms and promoting gender equality.

Through this initiative, MASAF is investing in women and young people as community advocates and changemakers, strengthening their role in preventing violence and creating safer, more inclusive communities.
