GIZ Ethiopia Country Team Visits MASAF Space Jigjiga
Jigjiga, Somali Region — 22 September 2026 — The GIZ Ethiopia Country Team visited MASAF Space Jigjiga yesterday during their work visit to Jigjiga, creating an opportunity to learn more about the work of MASAF Development Organization (MDO) and its efforts to expand skills, learning, innovation, and opportunities for young people.
Despite having a busy schedule in Jigjiga, the GIZ team made time to visit the MASAF Space. The MASAF team welcomed the delegation and shared an overview of the space, its activities, and the MASAF Spaces model.
The visit provided an opportunity to discuss how MASAF Spaces connect young people with skills development, learning, innovation, and pathways to employment and entrepreneurship, while creating accessible spaces for underserved communities.
MASAF Space Jigjiga is the flagship MASAF Space and an important starting point for MDO's community-based approach to youth skills and opportunity development in the Somali Region. Building on this experience, MDO is expanding the MASAF Spaces model to Degahbour to reach more young people and underserved communities.
MASAF Development Organization sincerely appreciates the GIZ Ethiopia Country Team for making time to visit the space despite their busy schedule. We value the opportunity to share our work, exchange ideas, and build connections around expanding opportunities for young people in the Somali Region.
