From Choosing a Career to Shaping a Life: MASAF Engages Young People in Degahbur

Masaf Development Organization, through its MASAF Spaces Degahbur Hub, successfully conducted two complementary youth engagements in Degahbur, creating spaces for young people to reflect on their career choices, skills development, personal growth, and the choices that shape their future.

The two engagements brought together an important message: building a better future requires both the right skills and the right mindset.

From Education to Career Success

On 24 July 2026, MASAF conducted the Youth Career Development Workshop 2026.

The workshop focused on a challenge facing many young people: making education and career decisions without a clear plan. Participants were encouraged to move beyond simply collecting certificates and instead think carefully about their interests, abilities, specialization, labour-market needs, and long-term career goals.

The sessions covered career guidance and future planning, skills development, personal branding, and using social media for career growth. Degahbur TVET College also introduced participants to available training opportunities and pathways for developing practical and market-relevant skills.

The workshop provided an opportunity for students, TVET learners, and other young people to ask questions, exchange experiences, and reflect on how they can make more informed decisions about their future.

What Shapes Our Lives?

The conversation continued on 26 July 2026 through an evening youth dialogue held at Beerta Bulshada, Degahbur, under the theme:

“What Shapes Our Lives? Our Choices or Our Circumstances?”

The dialogue created an open space for young people to explore a deeper question: How much of our lives is shaped by the circumstances we face, and how much is shaped by the choices we make?

Through an interactive dialogue and exchange of ideas, participants discussed personal responsibility, decision-making, challenges, resilience, ambition, and the role young people can play in shaping their own futures.

Rather than a conventional lecture, the session encouraged young people to speak, listen, question, reflect, and learn from one another.

Together, the two engagements reflected MASAF's broader approach to youth development: young people need more than access to training. They need guidance, practical skills, confidence, networks, and spaces where they can reflect on their choices and actively shape their futures.

Through MASAF Spaces and its wider programs, MASAF works to expand access to skills, education, digital opportunities, networks, and pathways that connect learning with livelihoods and economic participation.

The successful engagements in Degahbur were made possible through the participation and support of Degahbur City Administration, the MASAF Spaces Degahbur Hub Team, facilitators, and the young people who actively participated in both events.
